34 BLIGh: mASTER mARInER RoB MuNdle Queensland author Rob Mundle has sailed yachts competitively and in this new biography examines the life of Captain Bligh from a sailor’s perspective. Mundle paints a portrait of a highly competent sailor and captain, and relates his extraordinary feats of seamanship. Although Mundle suggests that history has not been fair to his subject, he never browbeats you with this idea. Neither does he dwell on the infamous mutinies, but focuses on other, less well-known aspects of Bligh’s life and career. A fascinating, vivid and very human account of life in the era of adventure on the high seas.
