FICTION | TOP 40 BOOK CLUB READS 14 15 PeacheS fOr mOnSieur le curé JOanne harriS Peaches for Monsieur le Curé is the third of Joanne Harris’s popular series, which also includes Chocolate and The Lollipop Shoes. The series follows the main character of Vianne and her intuitive, wise and witching approach to life and those who surround her. After making a home in Paris she receives a letter from an old friend summoning her back to Lansqenet, the village she previously called home. Upon returning, she initially believes that many things have not changed in the conservative catholic town, until she discovers the massive divide that has developed between the residents and a large number of newcomer Maghrébins (North African migrants). Following themes of equality, harmony and misjudgment, this book challenges its readers to question the prejudices that we all hold based on little more than rumor or misunderstood difference. An exceptionally well written book with a stor yline for the heart, atmosphere for escapism and complexity for the mind.
