It is here that Annika Kalm, wife of the railwayman, takes a job and watches as the people of the town, recovering from the war in their own ways, come to select their books. She encounters two men, old friends who have returned to Thirroul af ter the war. Before long, their lives become entwined. The Railwayman’s Wife is an excellent and emotive novel. It will likely become a favourite among its readers.
