He leaves with the painting they were looking at when the bomb exploded – The Goldfinch. Theo moves in with the Barbours, an upperclass family living on Fifth Avenue and falls in love with Pippa, a girl he saw just before the explosion. As the story continues, art police begin the search for the missing painting however, yearning for the connection to his mother, Theo holds on to The Goldfinch. Just as suspenseful as Tartt’s previous novels, The Goldfinch is a detailed and power ful read.
