FICTION 27 BOOK CLUB READS Top 40 THE ROSIE PROJECT Graeme Simsion A warm, witty and well-written novel about a simultaneously socially inept and incredibly loveable Melbourne university professor named Don, and the bohemian, proto-punk, free-spirited barmaid Rosie. Their riotous first date leads to the ‘jacket episode’ and an unlikely romance develops, with Don struggling all the while to see where Rosie fits in his ‘wife selection tool’, the questionnaire that is part of his scientific ‘wife project’ – designed to help him meet his perfect mate. Don’s social faux pas keep the reader laughing out loud and the developing romance keeps you intrigued, but the quality of the written story and the engagement with characters make for a book you can’t put down.
